Marine Solomonishvili reports on the annual Holocaust Remembrance event in Georgia.

On January 27, 2017 , the International Foundation LEA and Public Defender of Georgia held an event dedicated to International Holocaust   Remembrance Day in the Information Centre of NATO and EU in Tbilisi, Georgia. The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, state agencies and members of the Public Defender’s Councils of Religions and Ethnic Minorities, Georgian CSO,Media.

At the opening of the meeting,  was a minute of silence to honor the victims of the Holocaust. During the event, the Holocaust victims were commemorated in his speech by Mr.Ucha Nanuashvili (Public Defender of Georgia), Mrs.Marine Solomonishvili (Head of the International Foundation LEA), Mr. Adel Nino (First Secretary, Consul of the Israeli Embassy), HE Mariusz Maszkiewicz (Polish Ambassador to Georgia), HE Janosh Herman (Head of the EU Delegation to Georgia) and Niels Scott, Head of the UNDP Development Program,  Rabbi Avimelekh Rosenblatt and Rabbi Besion Izraelishvili read a memorial prayer. The speakers of the event lit candles on the menorah and paid tribute to the 6 million Jews killed during the Holocaust, 2 million Romanies and all other victims of the Nazi regime. At the end, Rabbi Avimelekh Rosenblatt read a memorial prayer. 

At the end of the event ,  participants stood for a joint photo holding the slogan “We remember”. 

Participants also viewed the exhibition "Jews and the Holocaust" – an exhibition of graphic artwork by Marine Solomonishvili.
