ncjw takes action on women's inequality in israel

CJW's representatives in New York Fran Butensky and Joan Goldberg are involved in a series of Israel Women's Issues Roundtable meetings organized by NCJW-USA.

The second session in May 2012 focused on the issue of women and gender segregation in Israel. Nancy Kaufman, NCJW's CEO, reports that the stimulating dialogue, the concern and most importantly the desire to organize around this issue was powerful and energizing. She debriefed with Ambassador Aharoni who agreed to  host the third meeting at the Consulate General of Israel in September, so that NCJW can share their concerns with him.

In early December, NCJW and the Israel Action Network of the Jewish Council on Public Affairs and JFNA will be hosting a progressive women's leadership study tour to Israel. The goal of this unique study tour is to introduce participants to the geo-political challenges of Israel as well as her social and economic challenges through a gender lens.

Shari Eshet, Director of the NCJW Israel Office, has written a blog and an Op-Ed about inequality in Israel.
