global summit to end sexual violence in conflict

ICJW representative June Jacobs CBE attended the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict that took place in London from 10 – 13 June 2014.

The Summit was co-chaired and planned by The William Hague MP, who was then UK Foreign Secretary, and Angelina Jolie UNHCR Special Envoy of the UN.

William Hague was brilliant as indeed was US Secretary of State John Kerry who had flown over specially, as did The Chief of Staff of the Australian Army Lt. Gen. David Morrison. Ban Ki–moon was on video and many young people were performing or speaking on stage.

June attended one session organised by N.A.W.O.  - the National Alliance of Women’s Organisations in the UK, on which she is Vice Chair and represents The League of Jewish Women and ICJW - on the subject of “Gender Inequality – cause of gender-based violence”.

The closing session was attended by hundreds of women and was without doubt extraordinarily impressive.
