purim message from icjw president robyn lenn

On this coming weekend Jews around the world will celebrate the festival of Purim.  I hope you will have the opportunity to listen to the Book of Esther and celebrate this special day.

For us as Jewish women Purim, which follows the Fast of Esther - International Agunah Day and International Women's Day, rounds off three really meaningful dates within this week. Rarely are women at the forefront as we are during these few days.

You will hear more about women of the world during the following two weeks when those attending CSW61, the   Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations in New York, report on some of the sessions.

ICJW is very fortunate to have our five active UN NGO Representatives in New York. Each of them has been involved in setting up the three CSW NGO ICJW shared side events which I will attend next week  at CSW. Their topics are

* It Starts with Safety: Adding Girls to the Global Agenda

 * Human Trafficking and Labor: Accessorizing Our Lives at the Cost of Others

* The Business of Parliaments: Achieving Women’s Economic Empowerment and Why 30% Women Representation is Important

Chag Purim Sameach!
