unesco resolution denies israeli sovereignty over jerusalem

Liliane Picard, ICJW's representative to UNESCO in Paris, reported that on Israel’s Independence Day, 2nd May 2017, the member states of UNESCO passed a resolution criticizing Israel policy in Jerusalem while recognizing "the importance of the Old City of Jerusalem and its walls for the three monotheistic religions."

22 countries voted in favor of the resolution while 10 voted against it, with 26 countries abstaining or being absent. The countries voting against the resolution were: USA, Italy, UK, Netherlands, Lithuania, Greece, Paraguay, Ukraine, Togo and Germany.

ICJW joined a chorus of condemnation of the UNESCO motion to deny Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem as disregarding historical records.
